Many of us get frustrated when trying to find an important email in inbox and then finally end up locating it in the spam folder (where it gets deleted automatically). Though mail services nowadays are near perfection when it comes to classifying emails as genuine or spam, yet nothing is perfect and error free. Owing to this, you come across legitimate emails laying in the spam section for no real reason.

This article will let you through a few tips you should follow on the most common yet infamous email services you often use. However, there is one tip that works with any and every email service you may use. You can add the email address of the sender to your address book to avoid any chances of it being redirected to the spam folder.

Here are a few more tips that lets you refrain emails from being marked as spam in Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo.

Gmail:

To move a genuine mail that has been sent to Spam, login to your Gmail account, locate and open the mail that was marked as spam. Post this simply click on the Not Spam button present at the top of the mail.

Alternatively, you can add that sender to your contact list. For this, from the top right corner of the email click on the menu button and then from the drop down menu select “Add [Name] to Contacts list”.

Microsoft Outlook:

If you wish to prevent emails from being marked as spam in the desktop version of Microsoft Outlook program, navigate to Home > Junk. Click on the Junk button and from the drop down menu select “Never Block Sender”.

Outlook.com:

Emails in Outlook are considered important if the sender’s email address is added to your contacts. So simply adding the email address to the contact list will prevent it from being marked as spam or moved to the Junk folder. To do this, open the email from the sender whose email you wish to add to the contact list. Locate the email address and then click on the Add button. Enter the information of the contact and click on “Save”.

However, if the sender’s email address is not an outlook contact it will not be added to the safe sender’s list and will be redirected to the Junk folder.

To ensure that people who send you emails are in your Safe Sender’s list, do the following.

 


Outlook Mail

  1. On the top right corner of the Outlook.com window click on the gear menu and then click on Options.
  2. Under the Junk Email option click on Safe Sender’s option and then add the sender’s email address to the list.

 

Yahoo! Mail:

Similar to the above two email service, you shall add the sender in your contact list and ensure that mails received by them aren’t dropped in spam box.

You should begin by adding sender’s email address to the contact list. Simply, open the email and click on the sender’s email address and then from the drop down list mouse over the “…” button, and click on “Add to contacts”. In the new pop up enter the details and click “Save”.

Apart from the email clients mentioned here, adding sender’s address to the contact list prevents emails being marked as spam.

One can also mark emails as “Remove from Spam” or “Not Spam” or similar looking options available in the email client you are using. This will move the email to inbox.
