Remove “Themes” and “Appearance” tabs from Display Properties dialog (For Current User).

This setting enables you to remove “Themes” and “Appearance” tabs from the Display Properties dialog box.

Description:

This setting enables you to remove “Themes” and “Appearance” tabs from the Display Properties dialog box. By using “Appearance” tab you can change the layout of windows and dialogs with the changed color and font while the “Themes” tab enables to apply the desired Windows theme.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\System” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoDispAppearancePage”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can remove the tabs “Themes” and “Appearance” from the Display Properties dialog box. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
In Windows Vista, the “Themes” and “Appearance” option in right panel is removed from the window while Windows 98 & Me has only “Appearance” tab.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Themes' and 'Appearance' tabs are hidden from the 'Display Properties' dialog box.

'Themes' and 'Appearance' tabs are visible in the 'Display Properties' by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "System".

Create a new 'DWORD value' as " NoDispAppearancePage ".

Right-click on "NoDispAppearancePage" and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as "1" and click 'OK'.
