Disable "Add New Programs" option in Add/Remove Programs

This setting can disable “Add New Programs” option in Add/Remove Programs wizard.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

This setting can disable “Add New Programs” option in Add/Remove Programs wizard.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Uninstall” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a Dword value “NoAddPage” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” which can disable the option in the wizard. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Add New Programs’ is removed from the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ tab.

‘Add New Programs’ is enabled by default under the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ tab.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \], key and create a new key with the name "Uninstall" under "Policies".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoAddPage" in "Uninstall" key.

Next, right-click on "NoAddPage" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.
