Disable Add programs from your network option of Add/Remove Programs

This setting disables any addition of programs from network option of Add/Remove Programs.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

The Network option contains programs approved by the administrator. They are easy to install and safe to use and also variety to choose from. These all are disabled through this setting.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Uninstall” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a Dword value “NoAddFromNetwork” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” which can disable the option in the wizard. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Add programs from your network’ option of Add/Remove Programs is disabled.

‘Add programs from your network’ option of Add/Remove Programs is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Now, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a Sub key 'Uninstall' under the key 'Policies'.

Next, create a DWORD value as 'NoAddFromNetwork' under the sub key 'Uninstall'.

Further right click on the DWORD value 'NoAddFromNetwork' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '1' to disable Add programs from the network option of Add/Remove Programs and click 'OK'.
