Disable access to the “Users” system icon (For Current User in Win 98/Me).

You can customize the display of the Control Panel applets. With this setting you can disable the access to the “Users” system icon from the current applets group.

Description:

Control Panel is a repository of various applets/administrative tools that can be used to configure the Windows, applications, and services environment. If you go to Start > Settings menu and select “Control Panel”, Windows will open the Control Panel window. This setting can disable the access to the “Users” system icon from the current applets list displayed in the Control Panel.

“Users” specifies the actions a user can do in Windows. It permits to add users to your computer and assign rights and privileges to them.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\System” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoProfilePage” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” which can disable the “Users” system icon in Control Panel.

However, if you want to enable the icon back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Access to "Users" system icon is restricted.

Access to "Users" system icon is available by default.

'User Profiles' is hidden from 'Password Properties' in 'Control Panel'.

'User Profiles' is visible by default in 'Password Properties' in the 'Control Panel'.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "System".

Create a new DWORD value as "NoProfilePage".

Right Click on "NoProfilePage" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as "1" and click 'OK'.
