Prevent access to File and Printer sharing control (For Current User).

With this setting you can prevent access to File and Printer sharing control, using “Network” system icon in Control Panel.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
Control Panel is a repository of various applets/administrative tools that can be used to configure the Windows, applications, and services environment. If you go to Start > Settings menu and select “Control Panel”, Windows will open the Control Panel window. This setting can prevent access File and Printer sharing control, using “Network” system icon in the current applets list displayed in the Control Panel. It restricts adding of the selected device to your system.

The File and Printer sharing control enables you to set the preferences for sharing files and computers. If you enable this setting, you can remove the File and Printer Control Page from the network icon on the control panel.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Network” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoFileSharingControl” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its values to “1” which can prevent access to File and Printer sharing control. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added values.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Prevent file sharing.reg

The '.reg' file will hide “File and Printer Sharing Controls” from control panel.

Allow file sharing (Default).reg

The '.reg' file will show “File and Printer Sharing Controls” from control panel.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Files and Printer Sharing Controls' is restricted.

'Files and Printer Sharing Controls' is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "Network".

Create a new 'DWORD value' as "NoFileSharingControl".

Right Click on "NoFileSharingControl" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as "1" and click 'OK'.

Prevent access to user identification details on network (For Current User)

With this setting you can prevent access to user identification details on network using “Network” system icon in Control Panel.

Prevent access to File and Printer sharing control (For All Users).

Category : Display > Control Panel

With this setting you can prevent access to File and Printer sharing control, using “Network” system icon in Control Panel.

Prevent changes to the “Access Control” section to share resources (For All Users).

Category : Display > Control Panel

With this setting you can prevent changes to the “Access Control” section to share resources using “Network” system icon in the current applets group.

Prevent access to user identification details on network (For All Users).

Category : Display > Control Panel

With this setting you can prevent access to user identification details on network using “Network” system icon in Control Panel.

Prohibit access to “Taskbar and Start Menu” dialog (All Users).

Category : Display > Control Panel

This setting hides “Taskbar and Start Menu” item in the Start menu as well as turns off its functionality.
