Prevent changes to file system settings (For Current User).

With this setting you can prevent changes to file system settings using the “Display” system icon in Control Panel.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
You can prevent changes to the default file system settings using the “Display” system icon from the current applets list displayed in the Control Panel. This can be done by hiding the “File System” button from the “System Properties” dialog box.

The “File System” button enables to change the file system settings of your system. Through this setting you can configure the role of hard drive along with the other removable drives attached to your system. It also allows setting default functioning on system and program error reporting.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\System” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoFileSysPage” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” to prevent changes to file system settings. However, if you want to enable the setting, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Hide File System Tab.Reg

The '.reg' file can prevent changes to file system settings.

Show File System Tab.Reg

The '.reg' file can enable changes to file system settings.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'File System' option is hidden from the 'Performance tab'.

'File System' option is visible by default in the 'Performance tab'.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "System".

Create a new 'DWORD value' as "NoFileSysPage".

Right-click on "NoFileSysPage" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as "1" and click 'OK'.

Prevent changes to virtual memory settings (For Current User).
