Prevent changes to the “Access Control” section to share resources (For All Users).

With this setting you can prevent changes to the “Access Control” section to share resources using “Network” system icon in the current applets group.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me

Description:

Control Panel is a repository of various applets/administrative tools that can be used to configure the Windows, applications, and services environment. If you go to Start > Settings menu and select “Control Panel”, Windows will open the Control Panel window. This setting can prevent changes to the “Access Control” section to share resources using “Network” system icon in the current applets list displayed in the Control Panel. It hides the “Access Control” tab from the “Network” dialog box.

Through the “Access Control” tab you can specify who can have access to each file or printer you share.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Network” does not exist, create it as explained below at HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry paths. Then, create a DWORD value “NoNetSetupSecurityPage” at both the paths.

Now, right-click and modify their values to “1” which can prevent changes to the “Access Control” section. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added values.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Steps ScreenShots:

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Access Control' tab is hidden from 'Network option'.

'Access Control' tab is visible by default in the 'Network option'.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "Network".

Create a new 'DWORD value' as " NoSetupSecurityPage ".

Right Click on "NoSetupSecurityPage" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as "1" and click 'OK'. Once you are done, follow the above steps to make similar changes on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry path.
