Turn off the “Publish to Web” task for files and folders.

This setting can turn off the facility to publish files and folders on Web.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003

Description:

The Web Publishing Wizard is used to download a list of providers and allow users to publish content to the Web. It specifies whether the tasks Publish this file to the Web, Publish this folder to the Web, and Publish the selected items to the Web, are available from File and Folder Tasks in Windows folders. If you enable this setting, these tasks are removed from the File and Folder tasks in Windows folders. If you disable or do not configure this setting, the tasks will be shown.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “Explorer” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoPublishingWizard”.

Now, right-click and modify the value data to “1”, which can turn of “Publish to Web” option. However, if you want to show the option back, change the value to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Publish to Web’ task for files and folders is turned off.

‘Publish to Web’ task for files and folders is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Second, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key 'Explorer'.

Third, create a DWORD value 'NoPublishingWizard' under the key 'Explorer'.

Next, right click on the DWORD value 'NoPublishingWizard' and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as '1' to turn off the “Publish to Web” task for files and folders and click 'OK'.
