This tweak is used to change the description of “.COM” files in Windows Explorer when you click on the Details in View menu.

Description:

COM is used for making software components, which can interact. They are independent of the platform they are working on.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the data of “Default” String value to the desired description of your choice (for eg. "This is MS-DOS application").

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\comfile\], in the open area right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the description that you wish to show (for eg. "This is MS-DOS Application") in the text box and click on 'OK'.
