Remove Map Network Drive and Disconnect Network Drive Commands

You can disable the ability of the users to see connect/disconnect drives of the network in My Network Places.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This setting prevents the users from using Windows Explorer and My Network Places to connect to other computers or to close existing connections. The applications must not provide buttons, menu options, icons, or any other visual representation that enables a user to map or disconnect network drives.

For this go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and search the key listed below. You can one create DWORD value "NoNetConnectDisconnect", if this value is not existing.

Now you can set this value to disable the ability of the user to see the connect/disconnect drives in My Network Places.
After a logoff or restart the changes take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Prevents users from using Windows Explorer or My Network Places and commands from the toolbar and Tools Menus to map or disconnect network drives. It also restricts Add Network Place option from My Network Places.

Map or Disconnect Network Drives and Adding Network Places from My Network Places is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\] and create a DWORD value 'NoNetConnectDisconnect'.

Third, right click on the DWORD value 'NoNetConnectDisconnect' and select 'MOdify'.

Finally set the value data as '1' and click 'OK'.
