Change program files directory

This tweak lets you change the program files directory as the default directory.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This setting permits you to change the directory used as the default location for software applications.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a string value name “ProgramFilesDir”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with the new directory name as default directory to enable the setting.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

After logoff or system restart, changes take effect.

Default location for ‘Program Files’ directory is visible.

Finally, enter the user-defined path such as "C:\New Program Files" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\] key, right-click on the "ProgramFilesDir" String Value and click on "Modify".

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".
