Change the color of encrypted files

This tweak lets you change the color of encrypted files.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista

Description:

When a file or folder is encrypted, it is normally shown in a different color in Explorer. The user can define the color to use.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a binary value name “AltEncryptionColor”, if the value does not exist, in the right panel. Right-click it and modify the data value to “RR GG BB 00” (default = 00 80 40 00).

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Restart the system or logoff to see the effects.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The encrypted file appears in the user specidied color after the changes have been made in the registry.

The encrypted file appears in the default color.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\] key, right-click on the right pane and click on "New > Binary Value" to create a new Binary value called "AltEncryptionColor".

Third, right-click on the 'AltEncryptionColor' Binary value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the color code you want in the text box and click on 'OK'.
