Change the description of “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer.

This tweak is used to change the description of “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer when you click on the Details in View menu.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
The ".EXE" files are the executable files, which can be run independently from Run option in Start menu or from MS Command prompt. The description can be accessed when you click on the Details in View menu.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the data of “Default” String value to the desired description of your choice (for eg. "This is EXE file").

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Change Exe Description.reg

The '.reg' file can change the description of “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer.

Default Exe Description.reg

The '.reg' file shows the default decription for “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer.

Registry Entry 1 :

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Description for ‘.exe’ files is changed.

Default description for ‘.exe’ files is visible.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\], in the open area right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the description that you wish to show (for eg. "This is EXE file") in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Clear the search arguments from Find dialog box.

Change the compressed files color inside the Explorer

This setting lets you change the color of the compressed file.

Show the extension for the Windows Explorer Command (.SCF) files.

This setting enables you to show the “.SCF” files extension. If you have a file for example “Work”, you can show the extension that it looks like “Work.scf”.

Show special folder 3 in “My Computer”.

Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.
