Delete search history for names of files and folders in Windows

This setting enables you to delete the existing search history for names of files and folders from your registry.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003

Description:

This setting enables you to delete the existing search history for names of files and folders from your registry.

If you use the Search files options in Windows to search for a file, Windows will save the search results in the registry. If you go Start->Search and type your filename, you can search for a specific file.

If you use this setting, you can delete the history of your searches for names of files and folders.

For this go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and search the key listed below. You can delete all numeric entries like 000, 001, 002 etc., if these values are not existing.

After a restart or logoff the changes take effect.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603\], in the open area right-click on "00ID" (where ID=1 to n integer value) and click on 'Delete'. Once you are done. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.
