Hide the extension for the VBScript Encoded Script (.VBE) files.

This setting enables you to hide the “.VBE” file extension. If you have a file for example “Work.vbe”, you can hide the extension that it looks like “Work”.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
With this setting you can hide the extension of VBScript Encoded Script (.VBE) files. If you have a file for example “Work.vbe”, you can hide the extension that it looks like “Work”.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a String value “NeverShowExt”, if this value does not exist, and leave the data blank. This hides the extension for the file.

Refresh view of your system for the changes to take effect.

NOTE:
To show extension of files in Windows 2000/XP/2003:
Open any folder > Go to “Tools” menu > View Tab > unselect the option “Hide extensions for known file types”.

To show extension of files in Windows Win 98/Me:
Go to Start Menu > Settings > Folder Options > View Tab > unselect the option “Hide extensions for known file types”.

Hide the VBE file extension.reg

The ".reg" file can hide the extension of the .VBE files.

Show the VBE file extension (Default).reg

The ".reg" file can show the extension of the .VBE files.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the Start button, and select Run. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Next, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\VBEFile], right-click and click on 'New -> String Value' to create a new String Value with the name 'NeverShowExt'.

Finally, leave the data value blank.

Hide the extension for the VBScript Script (.VBS) files.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

This setting enables you to hide the “.VBS” file extension. If you have a file for example “Work.vbs”, you can hide the extension that it looks like “Work”.

Hide the extension for the Windows Script (.WSF) files.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

This setting enables you to hide the “.WSF” file extension. If you have a file for example “Work.wsf”, you can hide the extension that it looks like “Work”.

Hide the extension for the Microsoft Word Document (.DOC) files.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

This setting enables you to hide the “.DOC” file extension. If you have a file for example “Work.doc”, you can hide the extension that it looks like “Work”.

Show the extension for the Windows Explorer Command (.SCF) files.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

This setting enables you to show the “.SCF” files extension. If you have a file for example “Work”, you can show the extension that it looks like “Work.scf”.

Associate application to an unrecognized file type.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

If you open a file with unrecognized file type, you have to search on Microsoft’s site or have to search appropriate application in the programs list. This setting enables you to associate every file with unrecognized file format to a suitable application.
