Restricting access to “Properties” of My Documents folder (For Current User).

This setting can hide the “Properties” of My Documents folder on Desktop and Windows Explorer.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

When you go to My Documents folder, press the right mouse button and choose “Properties” or when you select My Documents “Properties” in Windows Explorer, the “My Documents Properties” dialog box will appear. Likewise, selecting “Alt + Enter” key combination with My Documents selected, also calls the same dialog box.

If this setting is enabled, you can prevent the user having access to the “My Documents Properties” dialog box.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “NoPropertiesMyDocuments”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can hide the properties dialog box. However, if you want to show the dialog box back, change the value to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "Properties" option in the 'My Documents' right-click menu is missing after the changes have been made in the registry.

The "Properties" option in the 'My Documents' right-click menu is visible by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\] key, right-click to create a new DWORD value with the name "NoPropertiesMyDocuments".

Third, right-click on the "NoPropertiesMyDocuments"' DWORD value and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
