Show/Hide shared folders of all user accounts.

This is a setting to show/hide the shared folders of all user accounts under My Computer/Windows Explorer section.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003
Shared documents can be accessed by different users of a computer. Normally, these documents are stored in shared folders. The user must have the proper rights to access these folders. The setting provided below can show shared folders of different users in My Computer or Windows Explorer section. However, to hide the shared folders, delete the entry from the registry.

To show the shared folders, you have to make changes in the registry. Go to Start > Run and enter "regedit". Now, search for the key given below. If it does not exist, create it.

The changes will take effect after a restart or logoff.

Hide shared folders of all user accounts (Default).reg

The '.reg' file can hide shared folders of all user accounts.

Show shared folders of all user accounts.reg

The '.reg' file can show shared folders of all user accounts.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Display shared folders of all user accounts of a computer.

Hide shared folders of all user accounts of a computer.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\] and create a new key as "DelegateFolders".

Third, create a subkey under "DelegateFolders" as "{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}".

Finally, shared folders of all user accounts will be displayed in 'My Computer'.

Clear the containing text history from Search window.

If you go Start > Search and choose search for word or phrase in a file or filename, Windows will save the text arguments passed in the registry. If you go through this setting, you can delete the history of the text searches.

Ability to change the My Documents path is restricted.

This setting can restrict the ability to change the current path of My Documents folder.

Show special folder 3 in “My Computer”.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.

Disable caching of thumbnail views.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

If you view Thumbnail pictures in the Explorer, Windows will save the view of all visited folders in a cache. You can disable the caching of Thumbnail pictures.

Disallow the changes inside File Types in Windows Explorer to currently logged on user.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

If you go to "Tools->Folder" Options in the Explorer and choose the tab "File Types", you can specify the default application for a particular file type. You can disable this feature.
