Change icon size

This setting is used to change the size for the icons to suit your desktop.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

The sizes of the icons can be changed to suit your requirements on the desktop.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Create a REG_SZ string value name "Shell Icon Size" (if this value doesn't exist). Right Click on the Option “Shell Icon Size”, and from the drop down menu, select Modify. Enter the value given below:

Delete this entry for default windows icon size.

Restart your system.

NOTE: this will also affect your Start Menu and the Large Icon view in Windows Explorer.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The size of the Desktop icons can be changed after the changes have been made in the registry.

The size of the Desktop icons is default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics\] key, right-click on the "Shell Icon Size" String value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the user-defined value in the text box and click on 'OK'.
