The icons on the desktop can be displayed or hidden according to your choice. Sometimes, you may have to press the key F5 to refresh the changes.
This setting enables the display of general Windows Icons but this requires some changes in the Windows registry.
For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Here, create the subkeys with their respective GUIDs that you want to show on desktop. However, if you want to get the original state of desktop, delete the added subkeys.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.
