First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".
Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel\] and right click on the DWORD value "{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}" and select 'Modify'.
Finally, set the 'Value Data' to "1" in the textbox provided and click on 'OK'.
