Show special icons in “My Computer”.

This setting enables you to set the icons you want to show in “My Computer” next to your hard drives. It's usually in the group “Other”.

This setting enables you to set the icons you want to show in “My Computer” next to your hard drives. It's usually in the group “Other”.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create all or selective keys on the path from the below list, to show the desired special icons in “My Computer”.

However, if you want to get back to the original state, delete the added keys.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Set visible icons in My Computer.reg

The '.reg' file will show special folders in 'My Computer' section.

Hide visible icons in My Computer (Default).reg

The '.reg' file will hide special folders from 'My Computer' section.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

It can add special folders in "My Computer" section which are visible under the group "Other"

The special folders are removed from "My Computer" section.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\] key, right-click and click on the "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{992CFFA0-F557-101A-88EC-00DD010CCC48}".

Third, the created key '{992CFFA0-F557-101A-88EC-00DD010CCC48}' for "Network Connections" is visible.

Fourth, right-click on the 'NameSpace' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}".

Fifth, the create key '{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}' for "Scheduled Tasks" is visible.

Sixth, right-click on the 'NameSpace' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{49BF5420-FA7F-11cf-8011-00A0C90A8F78}".

Seventh, the created key '{49BF5420-FA7F-11cf-8011-00A0C90A8F78}' for "Mobile Devices" is visible.

Eighth, right-click on the 'NameSpace' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}".

Finally, the created key '{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}' for "Printers" is visible.

Hide the “Automatic Updates” system icon in Control Panel.

You can customize the display of the Control Panel applets. With this setting, you can hide the "Automatic Updates" system icon from the current applets group.

Hide the “User Accounts” system icon in Control Panel.

Change icon size

This setting is used to change the size for the icons to suit your desktop.

Display general Windows icons on the desktop.

This setting enables the display of general Windows Icons.

Do not save changed icon position on desktop (For Current User)

Category : Display > Fonts & Icons

Users can change the positions of icons and place them anywhere on the desktop. Windows saves such settings even when the user logs off or restarts the system. This setting can let you disable such feature.
