Cascading “Network Connections” items inside the Start menu (Current User).

This setting enables you to control the display of “Network Connections” item either as cascade menu or as a folder link inside Start menu.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

Cascade menu makes the items behave like menus with submenus instead of just opening the related folder. With this setting, you can make the “Network Connections” display its items in cascade menu rather than opening a folder link.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a String value “CascadeNetworkConnections”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “Yes” which can show “Network Connections” items as a cascade menu. However, if you want to show folder display back, change the value data to “No” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
These settings will have no effect if you use the new (2-panel) display of the Start Menu in Windows.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Network Connections' items are cascaded inside the Settings menu of Start menu.

No cascading of 'Network Connections' items inside the Start menu.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion Explorer\Advanced\] , right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "CascadeNetworkConnections" in "Advanced" key.

Next, right-click on "CascadeNetworkConnections" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value User "Yes" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
