Disable some of Start menu features.

This setting enables you to disallow to reorder the menu items of start menu via drag-and-drop and it also disallow the context menu of the start menu.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This setting can disallow to reorder the menu items of the Start menu through drag-and-drop and further disables the context menu of Start menu items.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Explorer” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a Dword value “NoChangeStartMenu” in the right panel.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” which can disable start menu features. However, if you want enable the features back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Reordering items by drag-and-drop and their context menu are disabled.

All features of Start menu are active.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\], key and create a new key with the name "Explorer" under "Policies".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoChangeStartMenu" in "Explorer" key.

Next, right-click on "NoChangeStartMenu" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
