Enable maximum number of shortcuts in recent documents option of start menu.

This setting enables you the facility of making maximum number of shortcuts (default value is 15) on Recent Documents in Start menu.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
This setting enables you the facility of making maximum number of shortcuts (default value is 15) on Recent Documents in Start menu. Windows saves the recently used documents here by practice. You can change this number with your required input value.

For this, you have to make changes in the registry. Go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and click "OK". Search the key. Enter REG_DWORD value for "MaxRecentDocs" in right panel. Enter the value with the number of shortcuts required. Delete this entry for default value.

After restart or logoff, changes take effect.

Restrict Maximum Recent Docs History to 5.reg

The '.reg' file will restrict Maximum Recent Docs History to 5.

The '.reg' file will display Maximum Recent Docs History to 15.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Maximum number of recent documents shortcuts is limited to 5.

Default number of recent documents shortcuts is 15.

First, click the 'Start' button and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\], right-click in the open area to create a new DWORD value "MaxRecentDocs".

Third, right-click on the "MaxRecentDocs" DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the desired decimal value in the 'Value Data' field and click on 'OK'.

Change default location of the “Start Menu” folder.

With this setting, you can change the default location/path of the "Start Menu" folder. Upon changing the path, all subsequent data will be saved at the new location by default.

Disable highlighting of newly installed applications in Programs menu.

A newly installed application is shown highlighted until the application is accessed for the first time from the Programs menu. This setting can disable this feature.

Cascading “Network Connections” items inside the Start menu (Current User).

This setting enables you to control the display of “Network Connections” item either as cascade menu or as a folder link inside Start menu.

Cascading “My Pictures” items inside the Start menu (All Users).
