Hide username from new Start menu.

This setting can hide the presently logged in user’s name from the new Start menu.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003
Presently logged in user’s name is displayed at the top of the new Start menu. This setting can hide the display of the username from the new Start menu.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “NoUserNameInStartMenu”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value data to “1” which can hide the username. However, if you want to show the username back, change the value to “0” or delete the “NoUserNameInStartMenu” value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Disable username at top of Start menu.reg

The '.reg' file can disable username from the new Start menu.

Show username at top of Start menu (default).reg

The '.reg' file can show username in the new Start menu.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Username is hidden from the new Start menu.

Username is visible in the new Start menu.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \Explorer\],right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoUserNameInStartMenu" in "Explorer" key.

Next, right-click on "NoUserNameInStartMenu" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Add item below Run option in the new Start menu.

This setting enables you to add items under Run option in the new Start menu.

Hide My Documents from the Start menu (Current User)

Category : Display > Start Menu

This tweak is used to hide My Documents folder from the Start menu.

Delete the list of recently used documents on logoff (for all users)

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting enables you to remove the list of recently used items on the start menu during the logoff process.

Enable maximum number of shortcuts in recent documents option of start menu (for all users)

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting enables you the facility of making maximum number of shortcuts (default value is 15) in Recent Documents in Start menu.

Cascading “My Pictures” items inside the Start menu (All Users).

Category : Display > Start Menu

setting enables you to control the display of “My Pictures” either as cascade menu or as a folder link inside Start menu.
