Context menu is a very useful tool to make your working quite easy. You have many choices for working on a drive. This setting can open the Command Prompt with the current drive selected.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “\Shell\DOSHere\” is not present, create it as explained below. Now, change the String value of “Default” to “DOS Prompt” under “DOSHere” key.

Then, create another sub key under “DOSHere” with the name “Command” and change its String value “Default” to the data “cmd.exe /k”.

However, if you want to revert to the original context menu condition, delete the subkey “Shell”.

Refresh view of your system for the changes to take effect.

NOTE:
The Windows 98 and ME users should change the String value “Default” to the data “command.com /k”.
