Add items in “New” option of context menu in Windows Explorer or on desktop.

This setting enables you to add more items in the “New” option of the context menu on desktop or in Windows Explorer.

Description:

The context menu appears when you right-click in Windows Explorer or on desktop. There is an option "New", which lets you create various documents, folder and shortcut. A new item like a File Type can be added now to the context menu.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the desired application’s file extension (like “jpeg”) registry path. You can create a “ShellNew” subkey and under it the “NullFile” String Value. The created String value should not have any value.

However, you can delete subkey “ShellNew” to remove the item from the context menu.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "JPEG Image" item is added in the "New" menu item that appears on the context menu of the desktop.

Default options are available with the "New" menu item.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\(file extension) key, righ-click and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "shellnew" on the file extension of your choice.

Third, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "NullFile".

The created String value "NullFile" should not have any value.
