Customize InfoTip of “Briefcase”.

This setting can be used to customize the text information given with InfoTip of “Briefcase”.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

Generally, InfoTips are used to display advanced item information. When mouse is hovered over “Briefcase” icon on Desktop or Windows Explorer, a short text is displayed corresponding to it in a yellow box. This useful information is the brief detail about “Briefcase”. To change the default information of “Briefcase” use this registry setting.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the Expandable String value “InfoTip” with the text content that you want to appear as “Briefcase” InfoTip.

However, if you want to get the default value back, replace the data with saved contents.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Important:
We recommend that you copy the data of the “InfoTip” value in a .txt file and keep it at a safe location, so that you may recover it when required.

Customized Infotip for ‘Briefcase’ is noticed.

Default Infotip for ‘Briefcase’ is displayed.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{85BBD920-42A0-1069-A2E4-08002B30309D}\] key, right-click on the "InfoTip" Expandable String value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the desired tool tip in the text box and click on 'OK'.
