Match case-sensitivity of the search argument passed.

This setting enables you to enable the "Case sensitive" option while searching for a file and folder.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003

Description:

The search argument you pass to look for a file or folder in the Search Results window can be made to look only for such files/folders that matches the case-sensitivity of the argument. Say, “Essential” is different from “essential” and “ESSENTIAL”, which makes three different files.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “CaseSensitive”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can use case-sensitivity with search. However, if you want to exclude the option, change the value to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The option "Case sensitive" is enabled while searching for files and folders.

The option "Case Sensitive" is disabled while searching for files and folders.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\] key, right-click on the "CaseSensitive" DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
