Search for files and folders in the system folders.

This setting enables you to search for files and folders in the system folders.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003

Description:

This setting enables you to modify the search options used for files and folders. You are permitted to search the desired files and folders in the system folders.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the DWORD value “SearchSystemDirs”, in the right panel, to “1” which can search for system folders. However, if you want to disable the feature back, change the value data to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Search System Folders’ option is enabled.

The option to search file/folder in system folders is disabled, by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion Explorer\] ,right-click on "SearchSystemDirs" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
