Delete the page file during the shutdown process.

You can clear the page file during the shutdown process to remove any unsecured data in the page file.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
In your hard disk a page file is a reserved part of your storage to expand your Random Access Memory (RAM) for some data of your RAM that hasn’t been needed for some time.

You can clear the page file during the shutdown process to remove any unsecured data in the page file.

If you work with sensitive data on your computer, this data can be stored in the page file. After you shut down your computer the RAM will be deleted, but the page file might have any unsecured data. So someone could read your data from this file after you have switched off your computer.

For this go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and search the keys listed below. You can create one DWORD value "ClearPageFileAtShutdown", if this value is not existing.

Now, right-click and modify the value to "1" to delete the page file during the shutdown process. However, if you want to get back to the original state, and leave pages without deleting, change the value to "0". After a restart or logoff the changes take effect.

NOTE:
If you enable this setting, the shutdown process will take a little bit more time.
