Set screen savers password-protection

This setting enables you to specify if your screen savers are password protected and it also disallows the user to alter the preferences of your password-protection.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
This setting enables you to specify if your screen savers are password protected and it also disallows the user to alter the preferences of your password-protection.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “ScreenSaverIsSecure”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can set the password protection for your screen savers. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to “0”.

NOTE:
If you don’t use this setting, Windows will allows the user to turn password protection on and off.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Screen Savers password-protection’ is checked and can not be changed.

‘Screen Savers password-protection’ is unchecked and can not be changed.

‘Screen Savers password-protection’ is enabled and changes can be done by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] , key and create a new key with the name "Windows" under "Microsoft".

Then, create a "Control Panel" key under "Windows".

Then, create a "Desktop" key under "Control Panel".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "ScreenSaverIsSecure" in "Control Panel" key.

Next, right-click on "ScreenSaverIsSecure" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.

Disable registry editors.
