Allow running of active content from CDs on user machines.

This setting allows active content from CDs to run on user machines.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

Online web sites are able to run code locally because they find security holes. Many people provide web page information on CD, provide product documentation as web pages, or work with web pages locally before putting them online. This type of local code is able to damage the system. Therefore, the user has to accept various warnings to run the active content on local web pages including on CD. To make active content running use this registry setting.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the Dword value “LOCALMACHINE_CD_UNLOCK”, in the right panel, to “1” which can run active content. However, if you want to revert to the original state, change the value data to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Active content from CDs to run on My Computer' is allowed.

'Active content from CDs to run on My Computer' is not allowed by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Next, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\Settings\] and right click on the DWORD value 'LOCALMACHINE_CD_UNLOCK' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '1' to allow active content from CDs to run on user machines and click 'OK'.
