Disable changes to user profile in Internet Explorer.

This setting can disable changes to user profile using Profile Assistant setting in Internet Explorer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

Internet Explorer has the option to manage every users personal details. Users can change their mailing address and contact information using the Profile Assistant setting in Content tab of Internet Options dialog box.

But, on applying this registry setting the above services options turn disable and no further changes can be made to the contact details.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the sub keys “Internet Explorer\Control Panel” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “Profiles”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can disable the user profile assistant. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Option to change "Profiles" is disabled.

Option to change "Profiles" is enabled by default.

First, click the Start button, and select Run. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] and create a new key "Internet Explorer".

Third, create a subkey "Control Panel" under "Internet Explorer".

Fourth, create a DWORD value "Profiles".

Now, right-click on "Profiles" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the 'Value Data' to “1” in the textbox provided and click on 'OK'.
