Disable the display of fully qualified URL in Internet Explorer.

This setting enables you to control the display of fully qualified URL when you hover the mouse over a link in Internet Explorer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
The fully qualified URL means that all the required rules and regulations have been taken care of and the complete path has been provided. The path means that you have given the exact address where you want to reach and along with that you have also mentioned the way through which you will go. The example to show fully qualified URL is “http://tweaklibrary.com/mytweaklib/EditSettings.asp?SettingId=10309”.

When mouse is hovered over a link in Internet Explorer it displays fully qualified URL on the status bar. To avoid showing fully qualified URLs, you can change the behavior of the tweak to show “Shortcut to ” on the Status Bar.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “Show_FullURL”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can disable the display of fully qualified URL in Internet Explorer. However, if you want to show the item back, change the value data to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.
