Enable auto complete mode

This tweak lets you control the automatic text completion feature of Windows explorer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This feature appends the entered text to the words as you continue typing as well as displaying a drop-down list of available values.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkeys “\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete” are not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a string value name “Append Completion”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with “Yes” to enable the setting and “No” to disable it.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

After logoff or system restart, changes take effect.

Note: This setting also changes the auto complete functionality of Internet Explorer.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "Auto Complete" feature of Windows appends the suggested text to words after the changes have been made in the registry.

The "Auto Complete" feature of Windows does not append the suggested text to words.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete\] key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "Append Completion".

Third, right-click on the 'Append Completion' String value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "Yes" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
