Hide the Help menu item “For Netscape Users” in Internet Explorer.

This setting can hide working knowledge tips for Netscape users by removing the Internet Explorer’s Help menu item "For Netscape Users".

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

The Help menu item "For Netscape Users" is useful for those who wants to switch from Netscape Navigator to Internet Explorer or who just want to use more than one browser. This option will launch the page of help file which gives necessary tips for Netscape users.

But, using this registry setting you can hide the instant help feature for Netscape users.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “Internet Explorer\Restrictions” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoHelpItemNetscapeHelp”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can hide the option for Netscape users. However, if you want to show the option back, change the value to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'For Netscape Users' option is hidden from the 'Help' menu in Internet Explorer.

'For Netscape Users' option is visible by default in 'Help' menu.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] key and create a new key with the name "Internet Explorer" under "Microsoft".

Then, create a "Restrictions" key under "Internet Explorer".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoHelpItemNetscapeHelp" in "Restrictions" key.

Next, right-click on "NoHelpItemNetscapeHelp" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done, follow the above steps to create similar registry keys and DWORD value at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\].
