Restrict viewing source in Internet Explorer (For Windows 98/Me).

Internet Explorer gives the option to view the source of a webpage. With this setting, you can turn off the function to view the source.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
Internet Explorer gives the option to view the source of a webpage. You can choose the option “View Source” in Internet Explorer by right-clicking on the webpage or from the “View” menu select “Source” option. Upon choosing this option, Internet Explorer will start Notepad, the default source editor, to show the source HTML of the current web page. However, you can turn off the function to view source of a webpage with this setting.

Important:
Even if you enable the source view function, all the open Internet Explorer windows will not show the effect.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create the DWORD values “NoViewSource” and “NoBrowserContextMenu” at HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry paths, if they do not exist.

Now, right-click and modify their values to “1” which can restrict source view in Internet Explorer. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change their values to “0”.

Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

NOTE:
Though “NoViewSource” value can disable the “Source” option in “View” menu, the user can access HTML source by right-clicking on the webpage. Therefore, to completely turn off the users’ ability to view the page source, the “NoBrowserContextMenu” value must be added.
