Using Internet Explorer URL Protocol Prefixes.

Internet Explorer uses URL protocol prefixes in the address bar to detect the right protocol when accessing a website. If you type an incomplete syntax to access a website, Internet Explorer will try to complete it.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Internet Explorer uses URL protocol prefixes in the address bar to detect the right protocol when accessing a website. The URL protocol prefix always comes first as a part of the web route. Although the protocol prefix is always included in the URL when using proper syntax, Internet Explorer defaults the "http://" prefix. This means, if you access a website with an incomplete syntax in the address bar, Internet Explorer will try to complete it.

Here's an example:
You type "www.systweak.com" in the address bar of Internet Explorer, but the correct URL is "http://www.systweak.com".

Internet Explorer will take the first part of the domain name "www" and will check if this protocol is listed. Upon finding the entry "http://" associated to "www" it will add the protocol to the domain name.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter "regedit" and search the keys listed below to see all URL protocol prefixes included in your Internet Explorer.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Then, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes\] , to view information about the String value "www" with value data as "http://".
