Configure Notepad to use Word Wrap

This setting allows you to change the word-wrap feature through the registry.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This setting controls the wrapping up of text to the next line when the screen in full in Notepad. It can also be configured by using the Edit menu in Notepad.

Notepad is a tool, which every computer user finds easy to use. It is required to read and write text for notes, e-mails, batch files etc. It does not automatically line-wrap text at the right margin.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Notepad” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value name “fWrap”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and make the value data “1” to enable the setting. Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Restart the system.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "Word Wrap" option is selected and the text is wrapped onto the next line after the changes have been made in the registry.

The "Word Wrap" option is not selected and the text is not wrapped onto the next until the "Enter" key is pressed.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Notepad] key, right-click on the "fWrap" DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
