Prevent Regedit from Saving/Showing the Last Location.

This tweak is use to stop Regedit from remembering previous location.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista

Description:

When you start Regedit.exe, it displays the last key you accessed the last time you ran Regedit, by default. By using this tweak you are able to stop Regedit from remembering previous location.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter "Regedt32.exe" (not "regedit") and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a REG_SZ (String Value) value "LastKey", if this value does not exist.

Now, click Permissions on the Edit menu. Remove Full Control access for any user who does not want Regedit to display the last key the user accessed in the previous session, and then click OK. (Note that if permissions cannot be removed, they may need to be denied.)

In the end quit Regedit32.exe

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit\] key, and check for the existance of the "LastKey".

Third, go to the "Edit" menu and click on the "Permissions" option. Apply the restrictions to the registry value by checking the 'Deny' checkbox and click on 'OK'.

Finally, after applying the restrictions the values won't be visible as shown below.
