Enable Control on Manually Initiated Crash (Crash on Demand)

This setting enables you to control the manually initiated crash of the operating system.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
This setting enables you to control the manually initiated crash of the operating system. Windows permits you to crash the OS by holding right Ctrl key and simultaneously pressing Scroll key twice. This feature is disabled by default.

Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003 enables you to have the system stop responding and generate a Memory.dmp file (crash to blue-screen) by using the button combination.

For this, you have to make changes in the registry. Go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and click "OK". Search the key listed below. Create REG_DWORD Value Name called "CrashOnCtrlScroll" if not existing and set it to "1" to enable the setting and "0" to disable it.

After restarting the computer, you can generate a system to stop responding (crash to Blue Screen and Memory Dump starts) by holding down the right Ctrl key (the left Ctrl key will not allow you to generate a stop event), and pressing the Scroll Lock key twice.

A stop event will occur, and a stop error will be displayed with the following message:

***STOP: 0x000000E2 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The end-user manually generated the crashdump.

After generating a stop event, the computer will be inoperable until it has been restarted. After the restart, complete functionality will be restored.
