Change the Size of the Windows File Protection Cache(Disk Space)

This setting lets you control the maximum amount of space available to be consumed by the backup DLLs.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
Windows File Protection (WFP) saves copies of common DLL files and replaces them if the original gets damaged/lost.

WFP uses an unlimited amount of disk space for its cache of system files but you can adjust according to your requirements.

To change the size of the cache, you will have to make some changes in the registry key.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Create a REG_DWORD value name " SFCQuota" (if this value doesn't exist). Right Click on the Option “SFCQuota”, and from the drop down menu, select Modify. Enter the value as you would feel safe to enable the setting. Here, 200MB has been considered safe.

Close the registry.

Restart the system.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Next, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\] and create a DWORD value as 'SFCQuota'.

Now, right click on the DWORD value 'SFCQuota' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set a User Defined Value in the value data to set the Size of the Windows File Protection Cache and click 'OK'.
