Disable updation of “Accessed” attribute in file/folder properties.

This tweak lets you disable the attribute "Accessed" in file/folder properties.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
Windows updates the time stamp of last access on each file and folder it accesses, and takes time to stamp the files if they are in large number. Naturally, it may affect the performance, and if the machine is a server then it will be better to disable the setting.

For this go to Start->Run and enter regedit and search the keys listed below. You can create the DWORD value name “NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate” in the right panel, if it does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “1” which can disable updation of the attribute. However, if you want to enable it back, change the value data to “0” or delete the added value name.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.
