Hide SFC progress meter

This setting hides Windows System File Checker (SFC) progress meter during file checking.

Tweak for : Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
System File Checker permits the administartor to scan all the protected files to verify their versions. It also checks and repopulates the %SystemRoot%\System32\Dllcache folder. If the Dllcache folder becomes damaged or unusable, you can repair the contents of the folder through either the sfc /scanonce or sfc /scanboot command.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Create a REG_DWORD value name " SFCShowProgress" (if this value doesn't exist). Right Click on the Option “SFCShowProgress”, and from the drop down menu, select Modify. Enter the value "0" to enable the setting.

Close the registry.

Restart the system.

Hide the Progress Meter for Windows System file protection.reg

The '.reg' file will hide the Progress Meter for Windows System file protection.

Show the Progress Meter for Windows System file protection (Default).reg

The '.reg' file will show the Progress Meter for Windows System file protection.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The Windows System File Checker progress meter is not visible.

The Windows System File Checker progress meter is visible by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Now, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\] and create a DWORD value as 'SFCSShowProgress'.

Next, right click on the DWORD value 'SFCSShowProgress' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '0' and click 'OK'.

Disable file encryption.

Show the extension for the Shortcut (.LNK) files.

This setting enabled Windows File Protection, which is a part of System File Checker in Windows 2000/XP/2003.

Change the Size of the Windows File Protection Cache(Disk Space)

This setting lets you control the maximum amount of space available to be consumed by the backup DLLs.
