Switch to your own Power plan.

This tweak can help switch to a Power plan that is designed to balance energy conservation with performance, save energy, or maximize system performance.

Tweak for : Windows Vista
Power plan are combination of hardware and system settings that can help you maximize your computer’s performance or conserve energy. Per user energy consumption can be managed from Balanced, Power saver, or High performance plans. These plans are designed to balance energy conservation with performance, save energy, or maximize system performance. If the designed plans don’t meet your requirements, you can create one for yourself.

To access the “Power Options” window go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. Here, double-click on “Power Options” to select your preferred plan or create an own.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, to take control on the power schemes, assign permissions to yourself or to everyone in the group. Then, right-click and modify the String value “ActivePowerScheme”, in the right panel, with value of any of the three power plans. The relative values are as below:

Refresh view of your system for the changes to take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Power Plan is set to 'Power Saver' mode.

Power Plan is set to 'Balanced' mode by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Second, go to registry path listed above and click on Edit and select 'Permissions'.

Third, add Everyone to the groups with Full Control permissions.

Now, right click on the String value 'ActivePowerScheme' and select 'Modify'.

Finally change the value data as per the list above for 'Balanced', 'Power Saver' or 'High Performance' accordingly.

Remove Security Center icon from the system tray.

This tweak can remove the Security Center icon from the system tray.

Change the behavior of Prefetcher.

Category : System > Performance Settings

Prefetch is used to help speed up loading of programs but it may conversely affect performance of your system by having portions of a program you do not use loaded in your system's memory. This is helpful when you want to alter Prefetch or disable Prefetch completely.

Change the behavior of SuperFetcher.

Category : System > Performance Settings

SuperFetch is a new feature in Vista that understands which applications you use most, and preloads these applications into memory. This is helpful when you want to alter SuperFetch or disable SuperFetch completely.

Turn off NV cache feature completely.

Category : System > Performance Settings

This tweak will not let your system to manage NV cache or enable power saver.

Optimize L2 cache memory.

Category : System > Performance Settings

This setting can be used to optimize data transmission by optimizing the L2 cache memory.
