Alter user name of Windows auto login

This setting enables you to alter the user name for the auto login process.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista

Description:

This setting enables you to alter the user name for the auto login process.

The auto login process with user name, user password and domain can avoid the secure key combination “CTRL+ALT+DEL”.

If your computer is connected to a network, you can specify the domain, but if your computer is not connected to a network, you can leave this value blank.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a string value “DefaultUsername”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to match it with the name of the default user.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] key, right-click on the "DefaultUsername" String Value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the user name you want for the "Windows Auto Login" and click on 'OK'.
