Change the background colors for the logon screen

This setting enables you change the background color of the logon screen, because by default Windows only changes the appearance of your windows.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

If you go to a free place of your desktop, press right mouse button and choose Properties, Windows will open the Display dialog window. There you can choose the tab "Appearance" to set the color scheme and appearance of your desktop.

This setting enables you change the background color of the logon screen, because by default Windows only changes the appearance of your windows.

For this go to "Start->Run" and enter "regedit" and search the key listed below. You can create one string value "Background", if this value is not existing.

Now you can set the RGB (Red Green Blue)colors to change the background of the logon screen. After a restart or logoff the changes take effect.

NOTE:
In Windows XP, the background color change will be reflected only in case of classic logon prompt.

Windows uses the RGB(Red Green Blue) colors for displaying different colors. So for example (0 0 0) means black color and (255 255 255) means white color.

If you need more representations of colors you can go to the display options and choose the tab "Appearance" like mentioned above.

If you select the advanced button, click on the drop-down button with the title "color1" and press the "other..." button, a color dialog window will open. There you can choose a color with the mouse and read the appropriate values for red, green and blue.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The background color of the "Logon Screen" can be changed to any other color after the changes have been made in the registry.

The background color of the "Logon Screen" shows the default color.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors] key, right-click on the "Background" String value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the color code in the text box and click on 'OK'.
