Change the message shown on the logon box

This setting lets you change the message on the Windows dialog box while logging on.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000

Description:

Normally, no message is displayed on the logon box. You can enter the message after this setting is completed and it will be displayed above username and password at the login time.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a string data name “LogonPrompt”, if not existing, in the right panel. Right-click it and enter the message you want to display like “Enter a user name and password that is valid for this system”.
If you want to get back to the original state, then delete the subkey “Winlogon”.

After restart or logoff, changes take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

New 'Log On Message' is being displayed while logging on to windows.

No 'Log On Message' is being displayed by default while logging on to windows.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlo gon\],right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "LogonPrompt" in "Winlogon" key.

Next, right-click on "LogonPrompt" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "Write the message show on the Windows dialog box while logging on" without quotation in he text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.
